At the Funke Mercy Tanimola Foundation (FMTF), Christmas is more than a season; it’s a mission. On December 23rd, 2024, we brought that mission to life through our Annual Christmas Community Outreach held in Fadeyi, Mainland Lagos. It was a heartwarming day of giving, celebration, and community spirit that touched the lives of many.
This year, we had the honor of hosting over 70 guests, including widows, orphans, the less privileged, friends, and family members. It was a gathering filled with joy, gratitude, and the true essence of Christmas.
The event opened with a powerful prayer led by one of our dedicated volunteers, who also serves as a pastor in our local community church. This was followed by a warm welcome speech from our Foundation Manager, Mr. Gbenga, who reminded everyone of the reason for the season and extended heartfelt thanks to all who supported with their time and efforts to make the day possible.
A profoundly moving moment came when everyone joined together in prayer for our founder, Funke Mercy Tanimola, a woman whose compassion and leadership continue to impact countless lives. The collective prayer was a testament to the gratitude and respect the community holds for her.

Earlier in the day, before the celebration began, the FMTF team visited the streets of Kayode, Onipanu, distributing 100 food packs to those living in vulnerable conditions. For us, outreach is not just about hosting an event; it’s about going to the streets, meeting people where they are, and letting them know they are not forgotten.
Back at the venue, guests were treated to a delicious, cooked meal and drinks. In the spirit of generosity, each guest also received a thoughtful Christmas package that included:
- A live chicken
- A 6kg bag of rice
- A bottle of vegetable cooking oil
The atmosphere was electric as the DJ kept the celebration alive with music, dancing, and laughter. The smiles on the faces of our guests reminded us why we do what we do.
The 2024 Christmas Outreach was not just a success; it was a celebration of humanity, hope, and love. At FMTF, we are committed to creating moments that matter and uplifting those who need it most, not just during the holidays but all year long.
