Feeding Hearts and Celebrating Together: FMTF’s 2022 Christmas Outreach in Lagos

At the Funke Mercy Tanimola Foundation (FMTF), Christmas is a time to reach out with love, restore dignity, and bring joy to those who need it most. On December 23rd, 2022, we proudly continued our annual tradition of giving back through our Christmas Community Outreach in Mainland, Lagos, a day filled with food, faith, fun, and heartfelt connection.

The day began with a street outreach in Kayode, Onipanu, where our team served hot meals to 100 individuals living in vulnerable conditions. For many, this simple act of kindness was their first warm meal of the day, and a reminder that they are not forgotten. Our street outreach initiative is a key part of our mission, taking compassion directly to those who need it most.

Following the street feeding, we hosted our main outreach event at our Fadeyi base, where we welcomed 50 guests, including Widows, Orphans, the less privileged, Family, and friends of the foundation.

Each guest enjoyed a hot, home-cooked meal with drinks, served in a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Beyond the meal, every guest received a Christmas care package containing:

  • A live chicken
  • A bag of rice
  • A bottle of vegetable cooking oil

These gifts were intended to help families prepare their own holiday meals and enjoy the Christmas season with joy and dignity.

A special highlight of the day was a heartfelt prayer session for our founder, Funke Mercy Tanimola, in appreciation of her continued service to the community. The prayer was led by the pastor of the local community church, blessing her with strength, grace, and more impact in the years to come. It was a profoundly moving and unifying moment for all who attended.

After the outreach, the FMTF team, including our founder, came together for a well-deserved after-party celebration. Thanks to our DJ, the space was filled with music, dancing, and laughter as the team celebrated the success of the day and the year’s hard work. It was a moment to unwind, reflect, and enjoy the fruits of service.

This outreach was fully self-funded by the foundation; it was an actual labor of love. Every meal served, every item given, and every smile shared was made possible through personal sacrifice and a deep commitment to uplifting our community.

We are also incredibly grateful to our dedicated volunteers. Your time, heart, and hands made this event possible, and we couldn’t have done it without you.

The 2022 Christmas Outreach was more than an event; it was part of a growing legacy of hope, care, and community. At FMTF, we are committed to keeping this tradition alive because we believe that small acts of kindness can create significant, lasting change.

Thank you for being part of this journey with us.
